Over the last ten years Matteo has danced in companies in Europe including Introdans {NL} and National Dance Company Wales {UK}, performing in works by world famous choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon, Roy Assaf, Mats Ek, Itzik Galili, Jiří Kylián, William Forshyte, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Christopher Bruce, Johan Inger, Caroline Finn and Stephen Shropshire, among others. He has also danced in the multi-disciplinary project Nierka. This work was created by Satore Studio in London, directed by Tupac Martir and choreographed by Fernando Hernando Magadan.

Matteo started to choreograph for the first time thanks to the platform Dansers Maken run by Introdans (NL) where he created 'Just A Breath' (2010), winning the second prize at the Certamen Internacional de Coreografìa Burgos-New York,  and 'Left Behind' in the following year (2011). He returned to making his own work via Alternative Routes, National Dance Company Wales’ annual choreographic platform, here he continued to develop his approaches to choreography, playing with different techniques and involving other art forms. Pieces included: 'Crossing Paths', 'Omertà', 'Desensitized' and 'Crossword'.  His work has been touring in the UK as well as internationally, selected by Festival or organisations such as Valletta 2018 European City of Culture, Altofest, Interplay/18 and Vetrina della Giovane Danza d'Autore among others. Matteo also works in theatre as movement director, he recently worked on Highway One for the Festival of Voice a coproduction between the Wales Millenium Centre and August 012. Matteo was National Dance Company Wales Rehearsal Director for their Roots tour in Autumn 2018. In 2019 Matteo has co-direceted and choreographed Les Miserables together with theatre director Mathilde Lopez, an immersive production which had eight dancers, three actors and four community cast members. He also created a large scale new site specific installation together with French architect Sébastien Preschoux at Ffin y Parc in Llanwrst, a dance which responded and interacted with a woven unique, stunning and intricate large scale thread sculpture which responded to the environment.

In 2017 Matteo was given a OneDanceUK award as part of their mentorship programme and recognised as a future leader in British Dance. He has recently being awarded with a Creative Wales Award by the Arts Council of Wales towards his artistic research on how to bring contemporary dance out of theatre space and into more unconventional venues by exploring how movement can be generated through a process of responding to communities, histories and the inhabitants of particular places. In 2018 Matteo was nominated as Best Male Artist by Wales Theatre Award.

Matteo is an Associate Artist at National Dance Company Wales from 2018.
